The decision comes amid lower cattle availability in the U.S. market. Droughts in producing regions, reduced pastureland, wildfires, and sanitary restrictions have affected domestic production, while beef consumption remains high.
Under the new rule, up to 100,000 tons of beef may enter the country each month, totaling 300,000 tons over the period. Imported beef must be used exclusively for ground beef production and combined with domestically produced meat.
For Brazil, the measure represents a meaningful opportunity to strengthen its presence in the U.S. market. The country is part of the supplier group competing for the additional quota, at a time when international demand for Brazilian beef remains strong.
